Single-function digital scale units with SPC output are available in horizontal or vertical designs to measure distances. The scale moves along a beam and displays the distance traveled on a digital display. They measure absolute positioning, zero-setting for relative positioning, and have built-in low battery alarms. They also have direction changeover to reverse the direction of measurement, programmable presets to display a specific value, and data hold. These units do not include data output capability, so they are commonly used for direct reading/immediate measurement applications as well as machine table positioning, quill positioning, and tool presetting. The Mitutoyo EC Counter is a single-function multi-point display unit that shows measurements and quick Go/no-go judgments from digital measuring instruments.
